Written off by fashion critics earlier, Vidya Balan rose like a Phoenix from ashes to be the ‘Best Dressed’ among celebrities in India. Where glamorous women opted for a gown or cocktail dress, Vidya brought back the ‘Saree’ in vogue. She has proved her acting prowess in her recent box office hits ‘The Dirty Picture’ and ‘Kahaani’ but she is a ‘Hit’ even on the red carpet. BIB takes a closer look at Vidya Balan’s style.
Vidya’s rendezvous with the traditional Indian silhouette ‘Saree’ started when she was groomed by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The best combination of a Designer- Celebrity, Vidya found her signature style while Sabyasachi found a beautiful muse.
Vidya keeps her look pretty simple since she gives more emphasis on the outfit and her hair. Make-up and accessories are kept to the minimal. ‘Comfort’ is the keyword when it comes to looking good on the red carpet. Vidya has rarely been seen in high heels, instead she opts for kitten heels or wedges.
Jhumkas or chandelier earrings have been her bling choice to add grace to her saree. Vidya prefers the no-necklace look most of the times. A traditional bangle or gemstone bracelet completes her red carpet look.
The choli of the saree always has sexy back to add the element of ‘Oomph’ but in a subtle manner. Vidya drapes her saree in an elegant way that shows off only her toned back and complements her petite frame.
She loves to style her hair in loose curls, an updo or a simple loose braid. For her hairstyle Vidya always goes vintage and also glams her look by adding ‘Ghajra’ made from fragrant jasmine flowers. But her weapon of choice to charm the audience on or off the screen has always been her pretty smile.
