Fashion trends from Lakme Fashion Week – Resort 2012

Resort wear usually means pastels in color and going light in terms of fabric to beat the summer heat. But that is where the recent Lakme Fashion Week –Resort 2012 steps in to break the usual norm with unique creations from India’s leading designers. This time around internationally renowned Indian origin designer Bibhu Mohapatra showcased his creation at LFW which in itself is a big achievement for the fashion week held in India. Celebs walk as show-stopper as designers create design history. BIB gets a closer look at which trends are bound to surface on the red carpet this summer season.

Laser Cutwork

A technology that uses laser for creating design on cloth, is making big waves in the fashion world. Laser cut work detailing was huge this season at Lakme Fashion Week – Resort 2012. With designers like Bibhu Mohapatra, Jatin Varma and Rohit Bal incorporating this style in their collection. Try a laser cut bolero jacket on top of an Anarkali this festive season.

Tribal inspirations

Animal prints and colorful beads were ‘in vogue’ this fashion season. Designer Malini Agarwalla of the label ‘MALAGA’ designed an entire collection of accessory inspired by the African Zulu tribe. You can easily work this trend by added an animal print clutch to your Indian wear or a bold tribal inspired neckpiece with your LBD

Funky Prints

Camera, Cow and Mickey Mouse were seen in print on the runway of LFW…..surprised?  Funky prints are a big rage this summer season in India. Masaba Gupta and Little Shilpa showcased their collection with loads of funky prints in skirts, dress, kurti, stole, tops, dhoti pants and accessories. Try a funky print pants and go plain on the top in order to rock this trend.

Floral Motifs

Floral were seen quite a lot in form of detail work on lace, silk and velvet. Designer Krishna Mehta, Bhairavi Jaikishan and Rohit Bal went the floral route in their collection. A floral shimmer blouse combined with a plain color saree is perfect for a cocktail party.
